Has technology really robbed the present generation of reading habits?
Well, it depends on the individual. In fact, technology can be a handy tool for reading and learning useful things. On the other hand, it can be used as a time pass. If technology has robbed our habit of reading, it is our shortcoming. If we are really interested in reading, we will read and utilize it in any circumstance. Even if we have many things, human nature is always in a state of complaints or un-satisfaction. When we do not have something, we wish to achieve the same thing.
Would we be more interested in reading without technology?
If technology has robed our reading habit, and when there was no technology, we should consider the following question: Couldn’t be anything else to distract our interests from reading? In my opinion: if we blame technology, we should blame everything. For example, there should not be any entertainment, game, sport, etc We should involve ourselves in various good and useful activities. They are just like the parts of our body. We can’t say: we do not need the left hand in order to use the right hand more. Likewise, using technology and reading books are as same as the functions of a body.
How does technology help with reading?
We should be thankful for all today’s technologies. We can read on a desktop that has a large screen to read comfortably; We can read anywhere on: iPhones, iPods, tablets, laptops: We can listen to the broadcasts while engaging in various activities. For example: while doing physical exercise, cleaning the house, cooking food, etc. So, we can observe how technology makes all these things possible.

Difficult question. The other day we had some kids in our house and I went to market to buy some comics for them. To my horror, I couldn't find a single comic in the shops. I had never imagined that I would see the day when comics would disappear. Unfortunately many children of today's world will be more comfortable watching a movie than reading a story. On the other hand, technology has brought us access to information that we could never get when we were young. So as I said, a very difficult question to answer
ReplyDeleteI agree many children of today's world will be more comfortable watching a movie than reading a story. We can think of some new interesting ideas to engage them to read.
