Importance of education for people with disabilities
Definition of education:
Education is a process to achieve knowledge and skills. It makes us aware of things around the world. Without education, we would be in the world of darkness and follow anything blindly without their deep understanding. “The education and training of children are among the most meritorious acts of mankind” (The quote from ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, the eldest son of Baháʼu'lláh, the founder of the Baha'i religion). It is the most praiseworthy act for the development of the world. When we have a piece of knowledge about something, we are independent and have self-confidence. We can distinguish between right and wrong. An uneducated person will always rely on others. They can never use their minds. They cannot make their own decisions. If a person, who always asks questions from others, what would be the difference between a person who questions and a person who answers? There should be some particular sources from where they provide the answers. So, everyone should try to find that particular source. I know everyone cannot find out all the answers on their own. In some situations, one has to ask some specific questions from a knowledgeable person, but when they get the answer from someone, they can also research on their own to verify the answer and understand its logic.
Material education consists of the general education of the world. For instance: science and mathematics etc.
Spiritual education is about human behavior and character. His actions will make him closer to God. Both kinds of education should walk hand in hand, just like the wings of a bird. If one of the wings is destroyed, the bird will fall from the sky. Likewise, both types of education are compulsory for the humanities. An educated person can serve or save humanity. They can be a doctor, engineer or teacher, etc. On the other hand, educated people can destroy humanity with their evil thoughts and deeds by producing bombs and guns. So, we can observe the two major and different aspects of education.
As we know, disability is an impairment or physical disorder which doesn't allow a person to do certain physical activities. For example, They may face difficulties in walking and talking, etc. With all the limitations, they try their best to walk hand in hand with the rest of the world. Today in the era of the internet, acquiring knowledge in many fields is not too difficult, especially for people with disabilities because they do not need to move from place to place. They can grab the knowledge about any subject they wish on the internet. They can read or watch videos online or clarify their queries with knowledgeable people. They can spread their knowledge in the world.
In my personal experience, though I can write articles, I learned to write articles online with the guidance of people, and I will try my best to keep improving.
Education is a key for differently-abled people to prove their capability to the world because there is nothing to do with any physical activity. They can be great authors, writers, novelists, and poets, etc. Some people with disabilities may face problems while typing, but if they are interested and passionate about their work, there is no boundary to stops them from writing. They may be slow in typing, but it’s absolutely fine. It is much better than to be idle.
Very well said. I enjoyed the article dear Anand. In your example of people with material or scientific education making destructive things like bombs etc, it proves the point that material and spiritual education must go hand in hand. Thanks for sharing this
